AHEEN’s Four Strategic Pillars of Expertise
1. Refugee-Led Research & Data Insights
Gathering reliable, ethical data in displacement settings is complex, and standard research methods often exploit or misrepresent refugee communities. We solve this by providing exclusive access to hyper-local field data captured directly by our network of trained refugee researchers. To ensure safe and responsible research across the sector, we developed pioneering Research Ethics Guidelines for partners looking to conduct research in refugee contexts.
2. Low-Resource Digital Learning Architecture
Educational institutions struggle to deliver high-quality, continuous learning in remote camps with zero grid power or internet. We solve this by equipping education providers with the expertise to adapt traditional teaching into transformational digital pedagogy for low-resource environments. Our partners can also benefit from using our resilient, solar-powered, offline-capable digital learning hubs, and accessing our RLO-Universities Handbook and our Digitisation Handbook for the most pragmatic guidance on ensuring quality education in crisis contexts.
3. Policy Advice on Refugee Management
Navigating complex legal frameworks and advocating for progressive refugee integration requires a rare mix of deep academic expertise and lived experience that many organizations lack. We bridge this gap by providing strategic consulting and advocacy support, combining our leadership's firsthand displacement insights with legal and economic expertise. We work directly with government entities, municipalities, and bodies like IGAD to help partners shape and implement progressive, livelihood-centered refugee policies.
4. Refugee Sports & Talent Pipelines
Most sports entities lack meaningful reach into Africa’s low-resource environments, missing out on a continent becoming a major player in global sports. We solve this by serving as an immediate gateway, offering flagship sports programs alongside replicable blueprints. On the ground, we build talent pipelines that lead to elite teams and drive international qualification advocacy. We also equip partners with our tested, RLO-supported models for sustainable sports infrastructure in low-resource contexts—all integrated with educational frameworks that guarantee sustainable talent retention and future employability.
