The Tumaini Innovation Center (TIC) based in Eldoret, Kenya, is recognised for its work in providing an innovative educational model for vulnerable and street-connected youth. Through practical training, mentorship, and community-based initiatives, TIC seeks to equip young people with the skills and confidence to participate meaningfully in society.
By joining AHEEN, Tumaini Innovation Center becomes part of a growing network of universities, organisations, and refugee-led learning hubs committed to expanding access to higher education in emergencies in displacement and crisis-affected contexts. This membership will facilitate shared learning, collaboration, and development of inclusive models of education that respond to the realities of learners in challenging circumstances.
“Tumaini Innovation Center joined AHEEN to connect with a network of institutions advancing inclusive higher education for learners affected by displacement and adversity. Our work focuses on empowering street-connected and South Sudanese refugees youth through hands-on vocational training, innovation, and entrepreneurship. We see AHEEN as a platform to strengthen our programs, share local experiences, and co-create pathways that help displaced and marginalized learners transition into higher education and dignified livelihoods.”
– Samwel Kimani, Program Director, Tumaini Innovation Center.
AHEEN welcomes the Tumaini Innovation Center as a valued member and looks forward to their contributions to advancing context-relevant higher education systems in the region.
